PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

·
Assessed and documented present infrastructure environment for a Canadian marketing company. Suggested and implemented changes to database and web application architectures. The present architecture comprised several applications using one database. Separated the table structure in a way, that each application system where using its own database, significantly improving performance, reliability and recoverability. All applications, in a three tier system, were running in the same host and same JVM environment. Separated each Websphere application to run its own JVM, thereby improving application stability and portability to other hosts. Implement consistent backup and recovery across all database platforms (DB2/Linux, MS SQL/Windows). Connected Linux systems to Tivoli backup process.

·
Troubleshoot CRM applications’ performance. Windows OS, MS SQL database monitoring, network  monitoring (Ethereal) and application code dissemination were examples of  tasks  performed to establish where bottlenecks occurred and to rectify the problems.

·
Led infrastructure team (5 people). Tasks comprised of delegating, supporting and planning daily activities, including the implementation of IBM DS4300 SAN (5 Terra byte), migration of VMWare to a clustered fail-over environment using the SAN. Other tasks included: training the infrastructure team to plan activities and not to jump on every request, thereby improving deliverables; interacting with the development team to better understand implementation and support of applications; and articipating in establishing a change management system

·
Created and conducted user training in system and database administration. Created course documentation on Linux, DB2 and MS SQL 2003 administration. Held a number of training sessions with users.

·
Created infrastructure for a pilot project to gather critical bridge structure measurements. The infrastructure included installing Red Hat ES 4.5, Tomcat, MySQL. Integrated Apache with Tomcat. Deployed processes for a Java application portal. Implemented FTP process to receive measurement data and pictures. Created a load process (KSH, Java) to load data into the database. Implemented and managed the infrastructure environment which included Windows SBS (Small Business Server 2003).

·
Managed enterprise applications and database infrastructure for a major Canadian bank, supporting trading applications like IMAGINE, MUREX, ETM, North-bound Trader, SWIFT_OMS. Database systems (Sybase 12.5, Oracle 8i, 9i, RAC, DB2 (on Windows + SUN Solaris), MS SQL 2000 on different platforms (clustered and standalone). Participated in evaluating different database architectures for the BASEL implementation. Setup MS Analysis Service process for aggregating decision cubes for risk management. Implemented and supported content management system on Linux platform. Implemented Veritas cluster for SUN Solaris 8 platform.

·
Managed the system trading infrastructure for a major Canadian bank. From business requirements, planed the acquisition and implementation of  hardware (SUN Solaris) and software (trading systems). Managed support personnel, hardware and software license, capacity planning, out/in sourcing of systems. Implemented monitoring and disaster recovery among the many tasks.

·
Created and managed infrastructure for decision support for a Canadian marke(ranging fromt analytics company. Participated in several data-warehouse  implementation projects (3 Gb to 1.6 Tb). Tasks included the design (logical and physical) of data-marts, management of databases (Sybase 11.5/12, Sybase IQ, Oracle 8, DB2 5) and operating system (Windows, Digital Alpha True64) and SAN (Digital Storageworks). Mentored and supervised system admin., database administrator and ETL personnel. Integrated GIS (Geography Spatial data) with data mart data which at the time was a new technology, for a major US bank.

·
Managed database environment and created systems to analyze cell site data for a major Canadian telecom company. Logical and physical design of database system from user requirements. Extracted and converted data from the databases to Excel and Access for user analysis.

·
Managed a team (6 people) to integrate the corporate mail system for a major Swedish telecom company. Tasks where to evaluate, test, recommend and implement products from a number of vendors, regarding X500 and X400 implementation to support multi-platform e-mail interoperability. The project was delivered on time and on budget.

·
Designed a common gateway to the central product information system for a major Swedish telecom company. Created a transaction scheduler, distribution system and adapter (LU6.1/6.2) to IMS/DL1 and CICS/DB2 on a MVS platform using TCP/IP as the communication protocol connecting 15000 SUN work stations.

·
Managed a team (8 people), to implement a new SWIFT money transfer system for a Swedish bank. Together with the business: defined requirements and design; and implemented the SWIFT system.

·
Participated in a project, to launch more rapidly new banking products for an Australian bank. Overcame the shortcoming of DB2/MVS 1.3, where the new product rules where defined and found a way to integrate the product rules to OLTP (IMS/FP) system.

·
Sub-contract assignments for Anderson Consulting (Accenture) and ELLEMTEL (Telecom), including the logical and physical database design for new consignment trade system. Designed and implemented a global version management system, where the different versions of code where consolidated at the end of the week and new versions of code where pushed out before the work week started to a global work force of developers.

·
Windows and Linux systems programming, e.g.: created VB scripts to automate cleaning of Lotus notes files and settings in initialization files; refresh process of table data in different DB2 and MS SQL databases; enabled e-mail notification in MS SQL 2000 and DB2 8.1, where applications and stored procedures could send e-mail over SMTP; created replication process to replicate data between Windows and Linux environments using rsync utility.
Return.
